Protect Your Home from Wildfire

In April of 2018, a major wildfire broke out near Shadowick Mountain Road as the result of a downed powerline.  Due to topography and weather conditions, the fire spread rapidly and burned approximately 65 acres of land.  Thankfully, no homes in Bent Tree were damaged during this terrible event.  Our hope is that a fire like this never happens again here, but it would be unwise to be ill-prepared if it does.  There are several simple, inexpensive actions that residents can take to protect their homes from wildfire.  You are not defenseless during these incidents.  Please take the time to watch the very educational video below.  Following the provided guidance could save your life and home.

Severe Thunderstorms and Fire Danger

Severe thunderstorms and the dangers they bring are one of the greatest threats to community safety that we face. Over the past six weeks, two residential structure fires have been caused by lightning strikes within Bent Tree. Bent Tree, Pickens, and Jasper fire departments all responded to these incidents and worked as a great team to contain and extinguish the fires.

These storms also bring strong winds, which take down trees and power lines, sparking three brush fires this year. The storms we’ve been experiencing are abnormally strong and should not be taken lightly. Please follow the link below to review information that will help you be prepared for the fire dangers associated with severe thunderstorms.
