Severe thunderstorms and the dangers they bring are one of the greatest threats to community safety that we face. Over the past six weeks, two residential structure fires have been caused by lightning strikes within Bent Tree. Bent Tree, Pickens, and Jasper fire departments all responded to these incidents and worked as a great team to contain and extinguish the fires.
 
These storms also bring strong winds, which take down trees and power lines, sparking three brush fires this year.
